Women’s-Only Cycling Skills Clinic

September 3, 2025 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
From Chef to Olympic Champion – Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Cycling
Charlotte Worthington’s journey is proof that it’s never too late to chase big goals. Born in 1996, she didn’t take up BMX seriously until the age of 20, while working full-time as a chef in a Mexican restaurant near Chorlton. When Freestyle BMX was added to the Olympic program in 2017, her path changed forever.
She joined the Great Britain Cycling Team programme and quickly made history: in 2019, she claimed both the inaugural British and European titles and became the first British woman to win a world medal in Freestyle Park, taking bronze at the UCI Urban Cycling World Championships.
Her biggest moment came at the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where she not only captured gold in the BMX Freestyle Park final but also became the first woman in history to land a 360-degree backflip in competition. Her story continues to inspire women and girls to take risks, push boundaries, and embrace the joy of riding.
✨ With that same spirit, Happy Valley Women’s Cycling is excited to host a Women’s-Only Cycling Skills Clinic open to both members and non-members of the cycling community.
📍 Location: Bernel Road Park, Patton Township
📅 Date & Time: September 3rd, 5:30–7:30 PM
🌟 Features: The newly developed park includes a dirt-surfaced pump track, playground, picnic areas, and walking paths perfect for learning, riding, and connecting.
This is a chance to build skills, confidence, and community because, just like Worthington showed the world, anything is possible when women ride together. 🚴‍♀️💪
